Ben Ganon-Doak was born in Dalry on 11th November 2005 and began his football career with Dalry Rovers before moving to Ayr United and then to Celtic. He made his Celtic debut in January 2022 as a substitute in the Scottish Premiership win against Dundee United.
Ben signed his first professional contract with Liverpool in 2022, aged 17, making him the youngest Scottish player to appear in the Premier League. He scored his first senior goal for Liverpool in a friendly match against Leicester City, and in December 2023 he was longlisted for the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year.
Knee surgery forced him to miss most of the 2023/24 season.
In August 2025, Ben signed for Bournemouth,and in honour of both his parents, he changed his name to Gannon Doak. Ben’s grandfather was Martin Doak, who played for Greenock Morton. He died in 2024, aged 60.
Ben made his debut in the Scotland U17 squad in 2021, scoring the goal in the 1-1 draw with Wales.
In 2022, aged 16, he played in the Under 21 squad and his debut against Northern Ireland saw him score within 7 minutes, making him the youngest ever goalscorer for the Scoland U21s.
Ben was selected for the senior squad for the first time in May 2024 but unfortunately he had to withdraw due to injury. He went on to make his debut in September 2024 against Poland.
Ben’s first international goal came on Saturday 15th November, when he scored the first of Scotland’s two goals against Greece.
