About
Kilwinning Abbey Tower Heritage Centre is located inside the clock tower, built in 1816 and lying within the ground of the 12th century Tironensian Benedictine Abbey. The Tower is owned and maintained by North Ayrshire Council and staffed by volunteer members of Kilwinning Heritage.
Inside the Tower are exhibits from the town’s past – the famous papingo archery competition, local people and trades, wartime memorabilia, two town bells and the working clock mechanism from 1816.
Visitors are offered guided visits up 143 steps to amazing rooftop views of the town and surrounding countryside.
