North Ayrshire Heritage Centre

Every textile tells a story, and we’re delighted to bring some of these stories to you using costume and textiles from our collection. The Fabric of North Ayrshire was inspired by the work carried out by two Glasgow University Museum Studies students, Julia and Grace, who spent their course placement with us.

Exhibitions at the
Museum of the Cumbraes
Alongside our permanent Museum of the Cumbraes display, our foyer display shows some different aspects of Cumbrae’s rich history.
The small display packs in a lot of history including the Glasgow-Cumbrae Benevolent Society, who helped so many people in their times of need, lots of different types of maps relating to the island, some artefacts from the Women’s Lifeboat Guild and the fascinating military history of the 1st Argyll & Bute Volunteers
