Welcome to our Eglinton collections section.
We have many interesting artefacts relating to the Earls of Eglinton and their history, including the stunning portrait of the 13th Earl of Eglinton, Archibald William Montgomery. Archibald watches over us from the wall in the Heritage Centre. He was the Earl who hosted the Eglinton Tournament, the ill fated mock medieval tournament of 1839.
We have armour from the tournament and prints of the event in our collections, as well as a beautifully embroidered wedding chair from the14th Earl’s wedding.
Of course, we have the beautiful Eglinton Trophy in our care too!
