Alex parker was born in Irvine on the 2nd of August, 1935.

Alex Parker started his football career after leaving school with Kello Rovers in the Ayrshire Junior league. His excellent form attracted the attention of Falkirk. He had initially been a striker but was converted to fullback, a position he excelled at.

He made his debut at just 17 years old, against East Fife in September, 1952. He would go on to have a remarkable career at Falkirk. He made 121 appearances for the club, became the clubs most capped player, entered the Falkirk FC hall of fame and was named in their team of the millenium. He helped Falkirk defeat Kilmarnock in the 1957 Scottish Cup Final.

In June, 1958, he moved to Everton in an £18,000 double signing of himself and Eddie O’Hara. His debut for Everton was delayed as he had to fulfill his national service with the Royal Scots Fusiliers in Cyprus!

Over 7 years with Everton, he would go on to make more than 200 appearances for the club and became a firm fan favourite. In the ‘62/63 season, they won the league title, adding another medal to his collection.

In September, 1965, he was transferred to Southport for £2,000. He played for the club for 3 years before joining Ballymena as player-manager in 1968.

He earned his first Scotland cap while playing for Falkirk, in a 1955 match against Portugal. He played at the 1958 FIFA World Cup, making one appearance against Paraguay.

Following his retirement, he became a publican.
