Object Name: Bronze Age Food Vessel
Description: A Bronze Age food vessel found in a burial cist at Pun Brae, Stevenston in 1896 when foundations for a new building were being dug.
The clay food vessel is pot shaped with three raised mouldings, these each have two lines of oval-shaped indents. Between the moulding are sets of horizontal lines and above and below the mouldings are chevron patterns.
It was common in the Bronze Age to put food vessels in with bodies during burial. This vessel is similar to others found in Stevenston and other parts of Ayrshire.
